A lookback on a whirlwind week

There are no doubts that the past week has been one of the most, if not the most significant week of 2009. Michael Jackson’s death has sent shockwaves around the world.
It all started on June 25, at Jackson’s home. He went into cardiac arrest and paramedics were called to his home where a manic rush to save his life began. He was later confirmed to be dead in hospital.
June 26 saw Black Friday and the shocking news of his unexpected death settle in. We learned that it was Jackson’s mother Katherine who had been bequeathed custody of Jackson’s three children.
June 27 saw tributes from the likes of Liz Taylor flood in for the star. One medical expert told a newspaper his death was “inevitable”, as rumours of a variety of drugs he was understood to be taking before his death were circulated.
June 28 revealed that Dr Conrad Murray, Jackson’s personal physician, was not a suspect in the singer’s death. The Jackson family revealed they wanted a second autopsy on the singer’s body and success was revealed as the singer stormed to the top of the UK Singles chart.
The beginning of a new working week on June 29 saw disappointed fans find out how to obtain a refund if they had tickets for the 50-date concerts to be held at the O2 Arena.
June 30 revealed a will had been found for the late singer and rumours suggested that the video recording of a performance 36 hours before his death was being considered for DVD release.
July 1 revealed Diana Ross had been outlined as a guardian for the singer in the event of his mother’s death.
Yesterday, July 2, brought the latest on Debbie Rowe’s intent to fight for custody of two of the children.
