Ryan Seacrest, American media personality, TV Producer and entrepreneur was born in Dunwoody, Georgia on December 24, 1974. His mother Constance Marie was a homemaker and his father Gary Lee worked as a lawyer. Seacrest has one younger sister named Meredith.
From an early age Seacrest expressed an interest in broadcasting.
“When I was 10, 11, 12 years old I would pretend to be on the radio,” he told ABC news in 2007. “I bought a mixer and these big ugly headphones and I would literally broadcast the cassette tapes in my bedroom.”
Seacrest enrolled in the University of Georgia in 1993 and hosted his first radio show. He left school at 19 and moved to Hollywood, CA to continue to pursue his broadcasting career.
His early hosting gigs included hosting the kid’s show Gladiators 2000, Wild Animal Games and Click. He also hosted a radio show called Ryan Seacrest for the Ride Home. The show became #1 for the station and became nationally syndicated.
In 2002 Seacrest was chosen to be the host of the hit talent show American Idol. His performance on this show helped him land hosting jobs with E News. He also began hosting his own TV/radio variety program On-Air with Ryan Seacrest and taking over for Kasey Kasem on the countdown show American Top 40. He also added to his credit hosting Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years Eve on ABC.
Recently he was awarded a 3 year contract with American Idol worth 45 million dollars making him one of the highest paid hosts in history. In addition to his success as a host, Seacrest also produces two reality shows on the E Entertainment network, Keeping up with the Kardashians and Denise Richards, It’s Complicated.
Seacrest is also part owner a sushi bar called Katana located in the Los Angeles area where he also currently resides. He received a star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005.
