Dian Fossey YouTube Video – Gorillas In The Mist

July 4, 2009 by Sam Talley

Dian Fossey was an Occupational Therapist but she was always interested with animals and took up pre-veteranary studies in San Jose State University. Dian began observing gorillas in Zaire in 1967 and founded Karisoke Research Centre when she moved to Rwanda where she lived amongst the gorillas for 18 long years. The gorillas became very familiar with her but the loss of one particular gorilla named Digit to poachers fueled her to begin the fight against poachers. This was believed to be the cause of her murder in 1985 but her foundation continues until today. Sigourney Weaver played her role in the film Gorillas In The Mist, an adaptation of the book authored by Dian Fossey herself.
