Born as Cherilyn Sarkisian, this five foot six inch Academy Award winner has been known as Cleo and then adopted the name Cher in her show business career. She is a singer and performer with many notable acting credits to her name.
As a singer in the late 60’s, she was teamed with then husband Sonny Bono to be known as the duet “Sonny and Cher” and this has won for her a Grammy Award, an Emmy, three Golden Globes and has her own star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. For her Grammy, which she won as a solo artist for the song “Believe” made her the oldest person to be number one on the pop charts. Initially, her stage name was Cleo with Sonny Bono but later on repackaged themselves when they became a married couple as they became musical sensations. Later, she moved on to movies with critically acclaimed roles in “Silkwood” , “The Witches of Eastwick” and later on won the Oscar for best actress in her role in the Woody Allen film “Moonstruck”.

During the 70s it was always stated that Cher was 5 7 and 107lbs.
I READ THAT CHER WAS 5 FOOT 8. WHEN I MET CHER SHE WAS WEARING BOOTS BUTT THE HEELS WERE NOT VERY TALL. IN THE PICTURE WITH HER, SHE LOOKS MUCH TALLER THAN ME. I WAS ONLY WEARING TENNIS SHOES. I STILL THINK SHE IS 5 FOOT 8.
NO WAY SHE IS ANY SHORTER.
Cher is NOT 5′6″…she is 5′8″….confirmed.
I met her personally and, believe me she is tall without shoes.
