One of the most anticipated films for 2010 is Iron Man 2. It is a superhero movie which has been based on the fictional character of Marvel Comics which is Iron Man. This film has been directed by Jon Favreau and features a reprising talent of Robert Downey, Jr. for the second time around as the title role. It has been set for release on April 30, 2010 in the UK and on May 7, 2010 in the United States. The film is a sequel to the first Iron Man movie. But there are news that the film will head on to become a trilogy.
The actors which will be seen in the new movie include Robert Downey, Jr. playing the head role of Anthony “Tony” Stark/Iron Man. He is the head of Stark Industries, an inventor, and is the movie’s eponymous superhero.
Gwyneth Paltrow, also present in the first movie, is playing the role of Virginia “Pepper” Potts. She is the business partner, closest friend, and budding love interest of Tony Stark. Also she becomes the CEO of Stark Industries in Iron Man 2.
The character of Lt. Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes or the War Machine has been replaced by Don Cheadle. On the first film, Terrence Howard was the one who played the role. However, the director did not enjoy the experience of working with Howard since they were often reshooting and even cutting his scenes. As a matter of fact, Howard was the very first actor which was hired on the first movie. He also earned the biggest salary among the cast. Because of this, War Machine’s role has been scaled back.
New characters which you can see in the upcoming movie are played by Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, John Slattery and even the director himself, Jon Favreau. Scarlett Johansson plays the role of the Black Widow or Natasha Romanoff. She is an undercover spy who is posing as the assistant of Tony Stark. Johansson was chosen after there was a scheduling conflict which caused Emily Blunt to drop the part.
The director, Jon Favreau, can be seen in the sequel as Happy Hogan. He will be playing the role of Tony Stark’s chauffeur and bodyguard. Not that Iron Man needs a bodyguard. Fans of the movie will have to wait a few more months until Iron Man 2 is finally released. But for now, they can settle with the available trailers they can find.
