Jackson Memorial Tickets in Lottery System
July 3, 2009 by Richie Berges
Thousands, possibly tens or hundreds of thousands of fans are set to be disappointed after it was confirmed that a lottery system is to be unveiled for those who hope to go to the public memorial for Michael Jackson this coming Tuesday at the Staples Center in LA.
17,500 tickets are to become available, which is even shaving a further 2,500 places off the Center’s 20,000 capacity.
The details that surround the memorial are currently very secretive, with a spokesman for the Jackson family simply saying: “Everything about the memorial has to do with accommodating as many fans as possible. It’s all about the fans.”
Another co-ordinator had this to say: “It will be a memorial service reflecting the dignity of what the family wants. It will be a fitting memorial to Michael Jackson. No dance numbers.”
City officials are urging fans who do not get tickets not to descend on the city. There are fears that a sudden over-population of an already busy area could cause chaos. There is an opportunity for people to watch the program from their own home with live feeds on the Internet and on Television.
There are 8,750 winners to be selected, each to receive two tickets in the form of wristbands. US residents can only apply for tickets, with the deadline set for tomorrow night. The Staples Center website now has a system for people who are hoping to attend to the event to apply.
It’s believed that there are some people who aren’t even going to be present at the event. A percentage of the tickets that are being included in the lottery system are simply for seats in the nearby Nokia theatre, where three screens are being established for fans to observe a live feed of the event which is happening locally. We will bring you more as we get it.
