Jackson to be Buried ‘Without his Brain’
July 4, 2009 by Richie Berges
Media reports have suggested that Michael is going to be buried without his brain so tests can confirm the cause of his death properly by using sophisticated tests.
It is apparent that the family faced a tough dilemma when it came to finding out what the singer’s cause of death actually was. Their choice was simple: they could either bury the body with the brain and never know the true cause of Michael’s death, wait three weeks until results of the tests of the brain came back, or simply bury the body without the brain.
A spokesman for the coroner, who is called Craig Harvey, confirmed in a statement on behalf of the LA Department that the family had decided to go for the latter.
The next few weeks are understood to be very significant in determining the cause of the star’s death. However, it could be a long wait for results as the tests cannot even begin until two weeks from the brain has been removed from the body. This is because the brain needs to harden. The body was released to the family earlier this week with the organ being removed the day before ahead of the decision.
It has been said by experts that the tests can reveal a lot about the singer’s health, including overdoses on drugs and alcohol abuse. In addition, the tests can reveal whether or not there were any life-threatening diseases which could have contributed to the cardiac arrest which killed Jackson, 50, on June 25.
One expert said that the family should not be in despair, as once brain tests have been conducted, the family have the option to bury the brain along with the body.
A prominent forensic pathologist, Dr Cyril Wecht, said this: “It’s up to the family. They can bury him and then bury the brain later on.”
