Organisers of Jackson Memorial Clamp Down on Ticket Touts

Organisers of the Michael Jackson memorial event to be held at the Staples Center in LA this coming Tuesday have confirmed that they are taking steps to ensure that ticket touts do not try and cash in on the event.
There have already been rumours that some touts were trying to sell on tickets to fans in the UK who were very angry that they were not allowed to apply for tickets. The lottery system launched on the Staples website a few days ago was only open to US residents.
Hundreds of thousands of fans, as many as 700,000 are believed to be planning to descend on the city on Tuesday anyway in the hope of tickets.
Some experts revealed fears earlier in the week that some ticket touts were using multiple email addresses to increase the chances of obtaining tickets, with one organiser lashing out at the people who were planning to do just that.
Ken Sunshine is the spokesman for the Jacksons and said: “I’m hoping people have dignity. For those that try to take advantage of this, shame on them.”
Other strict measures that have been unveiled by AEG Live, the company that organised the 50-date sell out tour for Jackson in London and the organisers of the memorial event in LA, confirmed that each ticket was made individually to reduce the chances of touts making duplicates. This means that any tickets made using automated systems will be able to be detected.
Additional measures include wristbands that are ripped, taped or have been tampered with being made null and void.
Some ticket procedures have already begun. For example, a unique code has been designated to ensure that all tickets are obtained through genuine means.
It is feared British fans could be targets for touts. This is because Britons could not apply for tickets.
